Welcome to the big leagues of Little League.

Each summer, a pilgrimage of pint-sized power hitters and their cheer squads descend upon Cooperstown — not just for the love of the game, but for a baseball vacation experience that’s straight out of a Field of Dreams meets Norman Rockwell fever dream.

At the heart of it all? The Cooperstown Dreams Park near Cooperstown and the Cooperstown All Star Village in Oneonta; each a world-class 12U baseball resort drawing teams from every corner of the country (and then some). Imagine bunk-style barracks, a dining hall worthy of a high school reunion, and an on-site arcade that will devour quarters faster than your kid devours post-game hot dogs. This isn’t just a tournament. It’s a right of passage ...

Where to Stay & Play (a.k.a. "Your Summer Camp, But With A Credit Card")

Let’s be honest: you’re not just booking a room — you’re staging a full-blown operation to corral sweaty, glove-wielding tweens and their fan clubs.

Start with All Star Village itself, which offers all-inclusive team lodging (barracks, buffet, and bonding included). But parents, you'll likely want a nearby pillow that's not bunk-bed adjacent. We recommend checking out family-friendly hotels and vacation rentals — but book early. Cooperstown in summer fills up faster than a Gatorade cooler in July.

And when you need a break from the bleachers, don't skip the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum. It's the holy grail for baseball lovers and a blissfully air-conditioned escape for everyone else.

You’re up with the sun and sprinting like your last name is Ripken. Here's your essential checklist:

  • Arrive early – parking can get tighter than a dugout after a walk-off win.

    • Hot tip: head over to the local Changoever Hub page for all of the tips and tricks for each parks active times, activities and more.

  • Pack smart – sunscreen, bug spray, folding chairs, and umbrellas for shade or surprise showers, and at least one lucky rally cap

  • Catch a ride – Need to get around without losing your mind (or your parking spot)? Hop on the charming Leatherstocking Trolley — a stress-free way to navigate Cooperstown and the Hall of Fame loop.

Staying at Cooperstown All Star Village? Take advantage of the free All Star Shuttle, which runs from the All Star Village with stops throughout downtown Oneonta. It's an MVP move for families looking to shop, eat, or explore beyond the barracks. Want to venture into Cooperstown proper for the day? You can even grab a regional bus (a little fare, a lot of freedom) to get to town and back — just in time for the big game under the lights.

  • Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Buzz – If you're visiting in late July, you're in for a treat. The Hall of Fame Induction brings baseball royalty and fan energy unlike anything else — perfect for autographs, photos, and Instagram humblebrags.

Family Dining & Fuel (A.K.A. “Where Can I Feed 14 Kids and a Coach Without Losing My Mind?”)

Feeding a team is an Olympic sport. Here's where to medal:

🧀 Locals' Tip: Call ahead. Many of these restaurants will take team reservations or offer discounts if you let them know you’re bringing the whole roster.

Beyond the Ballpark (a.k.a. “Please Burn Off This Energy Somewhere Else”)

Between games? Make those memory-making moments count. Some all-star recs:

  • Swim breaks at Glimmerglass State Park or Gilbert Lake State Park— public lakeside beaches that are postcard worthy.

  • Mini golf at Barnyard Swing. No cleats required.

  • Doubleday Field – snag a photo on the same dirt where legends have played.

  • Downtown Cooperstown Shopping – pick up a custom bat at the Cooperstown Bat Company (or better yet see it made at their nearby Factory), trade pins like a pro, and snag souvenirs that won't melt in your car.

Final Inning

Whether your slugger hits a grand slam or spends more time in the dugout than the diamond, you’re doing something big here. You’re not just watching baseball — you’re making memories. So cheer loudly. Eat the ice cream. Book the trolley. And for the love of Abner Doubleday, don’t forget the sunblock.
