Hartwick College The Hartwick College Theatre Arts Department has announced its mainstage production of "Pink Mist" by Owen Sheers.
This production will run February 13-16 at 8 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, Bresee Hall, on the College campus. Admission is $5 for all Hartwick faculty, staff, students, and area senior citizens, and $10 for general admission.
"Pink Mist" tells the story of how the war in Afghanistan changes the lives of three young men from Bristol and the effects on their families at home. Owen Sheers' rhythmic and powerful verses are based on interviews with soldiers and families, and, as described by Samuel French, "illuminate the timeless human cost of war and its all-too-often devastating effect upon the young lives pulled into its orbit."
This production is directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Arts Marc Shaw and Assistant Director Josie Worley '19.
"In 2016, our study abroad students ─ including Assistant Director Worley ─ and I were fortunate to see the original production of 'Pink Mist' in London," Shaw said. "Now, we are honored to present Sheers' empathetic, poetic words to the Hartwick community. This play is epic and intimate, timely and memorable."
The show also features the scenic and costume design of Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Barbara Kahl and lighting design by Technical Director Gary Burlew.
The cast includes Dillon Orlando '20, Nick Woolson '20, Taj James '22, Alli Taft '20, Olivia Springer '22, and Emma Diaz '22. The production is stage managed by Abigayle Christian '21.
