The Farmers' Museum is the perfect combination of education and imagination. This living history museum and purposeful village, complete with a Blacksmith Shop, Pharmacy, Bump Tavern and working farm, will transport you to the mid-1800s. Be sure to see the Country Fair and the Empire State Carousel before stopping in the Pharmacy for old-fashioned candy.
Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard is another fun family activity rooted in history. Built in 1856, the Mill still presses fresh apple cider the old-fashioned way, and you're welcome to taste it fresh from the press! You won't be able to resist the Mill Store Marketplace, which offers samples of savory and sweet treats ranging from cheeses and dips to fudge and freshly-picked apples. Take something home or grab a bite to eat at the Snack Barn & Bakery while the kids explore Tractor Land and feed the Mill Pond ducks. Tell Thomas the Tank Engine to step aside. The Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad will take you chugging through beautiful countryside as it transports you back in history. Built in 1869, this train offers an historic travel experience and even has specialty themed rides around the holidays.
