The Fenimore Art Museum Presents "A Window into Edward Hopper"June 1, 2011 - Art of Edward Hopper on Display in Cooperstown at the Fenimore Art Museum COOPERSTOWN, NY - Edward Hopper, one of the most well-known 20th century artists, played a key role in bridging the gap between traditionalists and modernists. His work is rooted in realism but his streamlined compositions capture the essence of modern American life. The exhibition is on display now through September 11, 2011 at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY. The exhibit focuses solely on Hopper and the evolution of his work over a lifetime, giving visitors a deeper insight into the man, his process, and his art. Approximately 45 pieces will be on display including watercolors, etchings, sketches, and oil paintings. In an innovative collaborative program with The Glimmerglass Festival, the Museum is showcasing the work of Edward Hopper to coincide with the Festival's presentation of Later the Same Evening, an opera based on Hopper's paintings.
