The Fenimore Art Museum Hosts 'In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers'June 2, 2010 - 'In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers' Now On Exhibit at The Fenimore Art Museum COOPERSTOWN, NY - Celebrating the first 50 years of Magnum Photos, the world's most renowned photographer-owned photographic agency, In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers represents 60 photographers. From images by George Rodger, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, and David Seymour to contemporary photographers, including Sebastio Salgado, Chris Steele--kins, and James Nachtwey, these 150 images have helped to create a vivid record of momentous events throughout the world. Magnum Photos, Inc. was founded in 1947 by George Rodger, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, David Seymour (Chim), Werner Bischof, William Vandivert, Rita Vandivert, and Maria Eisner as a way for photographers to regain control over who, where, when, and how their images were used. Despite sometimes severe financial crises and disputes between members, Magnum continues to thrive after 60 years. In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers is toured by George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. Exhibit open through September 6, 2010. ![]() |
