COOPERSTOWN, NY - Visit The Farmers' Museum for its lively Memorial Day Weekend event on Saturday, May 23 from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, May 24, from 10 am to 5 pm. The event brings together the popular Heritage Plant Sale, the season opening of the Children's Barnyard and the premier of the new exhibition, Wild Times!  A New York Animal Road Trip. Across the street at the Fenimore Art Museum, you can also enjoy the opening of the major exhibition entitled America's Rome: Artists in the Eternal City, 1800-1900.

On both days, there will be plenty of animals to see at the Farm.  The Children's Barnyard offers visitors the chance to see their favorite farm animals up close.  See the baby lambs or take a wagon ride.  From time to time, the oxen team will make its way through the historic village.  And don't forget the hand-carved animals on the Empire State Carousel!

The annual Heritage Plant Sale will be held on both Saturday and Sunday. Visitors will be able to purchase heritage plants and seeds, including plants and cuttings from The Farmers' Museum's Botanical Specimen Garden. Join fictional characters Lulu and Max as they travel across the state in search of the animals that make New York their home.  Learn amazing facts about each throughout their journey.

Across the road, the Fenimore Art Museum presents the first major exhibition on the topic of American artists' depictions of 19th-century Rome - America's Rome: Artists in the Eternal City, 1800-1900. The exhibition brings together the most influential artists of the period, placing them within the timeless backdrop of the Eternal City and its ancient surroundings.  View over 100 works by celebrated artists including Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt, Childe Hassam, George Inness, Thomas Hicks, Jasper Francis Cropsey, John Kensett and others.
