"National Pastime" Musical Coming to CooperstownApril 19, 2010 - Performace slated for May 1 at the Hall of Fame's Grandstand Theater COOPERSTOWN, NY - National Pastime, a new musical comedy about a fictitious, unbeatable baseball team, will be presented during a special performance at 7 p.m. May 1 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The musical tells the story of WZBQ, a radio station circa 1933 in Iowa, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. To spark ratings, the station re-invents a long-defunct local baseball team and WZBQ begins to broadcast phony baseball games as though real. Tickets to the performance in the Grandstand Theater are free but must be reserved. Members may reserve their tickets now by calling (607)547-0397. Any remaining tickets will be available to the general public beginning Monday, April 26. Open seven days a week the year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, the Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. until Memorial Day Weekend. Summer hours extend until Labor Day, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults (13 and over), $11 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $6 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children six years of age or younger, active and retired card-carrying military personnel.
