Join Bassett For Movie Night At The Fenimore Art Museum in CooperstownJanuary 18, 2012 - The Fenimore Art Museum and Bassett Medical Center present Movie Night January 25th COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - Bassett Medical Center and the Center for Donation and Transplant invite you to movie night at the Fenimore, Wednesday, January 25 at 7 p.m. to see "The 5th Quarter", a sports drama based on a true story that stars Ryan Merriman, Aidan Quinn and Andie MacDowell. The movie and popcorn and a beverage are free. Movie goers could also win tickets for three-way admission to the Fenimore Art Museum, The Farmers' Museum and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The 5th Quarter has received positive reviews including, "An inspiring film, makes you want to hold your loved ones close and appreciate each moment...I raise my hand for The 5th Quarter!" said one movie reviewer." Following the movie, Celie Smith of Oneonta and Jessica Baker of Cooperstown will briefly talk about their organ donation experiences. Celie suffered unexpected and unexplainable liver failure in 2010, fell into a coma and needed a transplant right away. Jessica's husband Patrick underwent a liver transplant in 2011 at the age of 38. Both Celie and Jessica encourage others to learn about giving the gift of life ahead of time so they can make the decision in advance, before they find themselves in a situation where they are unprepared to do so. "I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else," says Jessica. "However we can make a difference we want to try." Celie agrees and notes, "I have been so fortunate, I'm feeling well now and so my mission is to try to do anything I can to give back. There are people on transplant lists who will die because assistance didn't come in time." Bassett Healthcare Network Chief Nursing Officer Connie Jastremski and Heather Hickland from the Center for Organ Donation & Transplant will also be available following the movie to answer questions and offer information.
