History Comes Home to Cooperstown as Hall of Fame Hosts 2010 World Series Trophy This WeekendMay 5, 2011 - Special Giants-Themed Programs Highlight Saturday/Sunday Schedule at Museum COOPERSTOWN, NY - The San Francisco Giants made history with their first World Series championship in 2010. Their predecessors, the New York Giants, had already achieved mythical status as one of the powerhouse teams of the first century of play in the National League. This weekend in Cooperstown, those cities and fans intersect in Cooperstown at a celebration of Autumn Glory. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host its annual World Series Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8, in Cooperstown, honoring the 2010 San Francisco Giants with two days of programming and special events highlighting the franchise's first World Championship in San Francisco, featuring a special appearance of the Giants World Series trophy. Museum visitors will have the chance to take photos of the World Series trophy and create new memories at the home of baseball, where artifacts of the Giants' world title will be forever preserved. Many of those artifacts are on display in the Museum's exhibit Autumn Glory, which celebrates each season's playoff and World Series teams. Fans of the current day Giants and of the legendary New York teams of yesteryear will watch history come alive at the Hall of Fame as the symbol of baseball excellence makes a stop in Cooperstown. Programs that will be offered both May 7 and 8 (unless noted) at the Museum include: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. - 2010 World Series trophy on display, Library Atrium 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. - History of the New York/San Francisco Giants, including a guided Museum tour, Tour starts at Membership Desk on first floor 11 a.m. (Saturday only) - Connect with AT&T Park via a live video conference for a virtual tour of the Giants home park and a lesson in Giants history, Bullpen Theater 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - Get an up-close look at artifacts from the Museum's collection documenting the history of the Giants, Learning Center 12 p.m. - Test your knowledge of Giants history in Giants Jeopardy, an interactive trivia contest, Bullpen Theater All programs are included with regular Museum admission. The Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. Giants fans can relive the team's 2010 World Series title throughout 2011 through Autumn Glory, a tribute to the 2010 postseason. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children 6 years of age or younger.
