Heat Up The Night at The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown

February 1, 2012 - Support Local School Programming at The Farmers' Museum February 11 in Cooperstown

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (02/01/2012) - Come to The Farmers' Museum for an evening of music, food, and activities that is sure to keep your feet stomping and your heart pumping - all while supporting local school children. The third annual Heat Up The Night will take place on Saturday, February 11 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in The Farmers' Museum's Louis C. Jones Center. Tickets are $5.00 (ages 7 and up). Children 6 and under are free! The event will benefit museum programming for area schools.

This year, the event will be held in conjunction with the Cooperstown Winter Carnival and its "Carnivale" theme. There will be live music from local favorite "Bourbon & Branch" as well as the Cooperstown High School Jazz Band. The evening will also feature games and activities such as hula-hoop races, face painting, and even a limbo contest. There will be goody bags with masks to decorate, beads and more. Partake in food and drink with sales to benefit the Cooperstown High School Jazz Band.

Taking school field trips to The Farmers' Museum and Fenimore Art Museum is a tradition for generations of local school children. Such field trips have been first on the chopping block for local school budgets. Responding to this need, NYSHA has written grants and allocated donations made by community members and organizations that allow schools and community groups to visit the museums. Over 1,600 students wereserved last year alone. Proceeds from Heat Up The Night will support this funding.
