Head to The Farmers' Museum to Kick off the Holiday SeasonNovember 10, 2010 - Kick off the holiday season at the Farmers' Museum, not the mall COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - This Black Friday, forget the mall and head to The Farm! The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown will reopen its doors for a special two-day Thanksgiving at the Farm event on the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (November 26 and 27) Kids will be on top of the world as they take rides on The Empire State Carousel. Live turkeys will strut their stuff at the Lippitt Farmstead, a memorable sight for any child. See first-hand how the chemistry taught in school is applied in real-life as the blacksmith hand-forges trivets and fireplace tools used on The Museum's open hearths. Mom and Dad will enjoy seeing traditional Thanksgiving Day foods cooked over an open hearth at the Lippitt Farm House. Plus, they can stop by the Middlefield Print Shop and take home hand-printed copies of traditional holiday puddings and cranberry tart recipes from the 19th century. Everyone will enjoy strolling through the Historic Village or enjoying a bowl of delicious soup at historic Bump Tavern. But that's not all! Pick up some tips on how to create your own holiday decorations. Whether your style is elaborate table-top adornments or simple greenery accents, come and be inspired. In addition, you can get an early start on your holiday shopping at Todd's General Store, in the Historic Village, and The Farmers' Museum Store. The stores feature unique toys, books, ceramics, hand-knitted stuffed animals, artisan-made products, and much more. Beautiful ornaments and greeting cards are in stock just for the holidays. Join us the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving and make some lasting memories with your family at The Farmers' Museum. There is no better place to kick off the holiday season and get in a festive spirit. Admission: $10 adults, $9 seniors (age 65 and over), $5.50 children age 7-12, free for children 6 and under and for members of the New York State Historical Association.
