COOPERSTOWN, NY -  The school year may be winding down, but the daily educational offerings at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum are heating up with the Key Bank Summer Programming Series set to make its 2011 debut May 31 in Cooperstown.

The Museum offers a wide variety of educational programs and special events throughout the year. But following the Memorial Day holiday, the Museum's daily programming schedule begins - providing visitors with even more opportunities for baseball fun.

This year's schedule brings back some old favorites as well as a few new programs. All programs are included with Museum admission.

The daily summer schedule, which runs today through Aug. 5, is as follows:

11 a.m. Baseball Coast to Coast: Go on a virtual tour of ballparks past and present in this interactive journey across America in the Hall of Fame's Sacred Ground Exhibit.

12 p.m. Going ,Going, Gone!: Recreate a radio broadcast of a famous home run call in this fun activity for the whole family in the Museum's Bullpen Theater.

11:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Artifact Spotlight: Get the stories behind the artifacts with this presentation that focuses on the human drama associated with the Museum's exhibits and artifacts. Brief but entertaining, these talks are delivered by Hall of Fame staff on a daily basis. You know the statistics. Now hear the rest of the story.

1 p.m. (Tues)   Connect with Louisville Slugger: Ever wonder how a Louisville Slugger is made? Find out as we connect live with the Louisville Slugger Museum for a virtual tour of the factory and a lesson in bat making in the Museum's Bullpen Theater on Tuesdays.

2 p.m. Visit with a Vendor: Why do we eat hot dogs at the ballpark? How much does that vendor's case weigh? Can I buy sushi at the ballpark? Learn the answers to all of these questions and more during a Visit with a Vendor in the Sacred Ground Concession Stand on the third Floor.

3:30 p.m. Science on the Sandlot: All baseball players use science to improve their game each time they pick up a bat or throw a ball. Learn the science of hitting, and the secret of the sweet spot in this interactive and hands-on program presented daily in our Education Gallery.

4 p.m. So You Think You Know Baseball?: How well do you know your baseball? Find out as the Hall of Fame team tries to stump three sets of contestants each day in the Bullpen Theater. Can you successfully work your way through nine innings of questions?

Tuesdays & Fridays Authors  Series: Visitors to the Hall of Fame can hear about baseball as authors and scholars discuss some of the most recent baseball books to hit stores this summer. Authors Series events happen on most Tuesdays and select Fridays during the summer. Visit www.hofclubhouse.com for a complete schedule.

Summer at the Hall of Fame also features family-friendly events such as the July 12 All-Star Gala in the Museum's Grandstand Theater and the July 22-25 Induction Weekend, featuring the enshrinement of Class of 2011 members Roberto Alomar, Bert Blyleven and Pat Gillick. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12).
