Glimmerglass Festival Tickets for Herkimer and Oneida County Residents Now $12June 15, 2011 - Enjoy the Glimmerglass Festival for $12 COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - From early opera to musical theater, The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York, has something for everyone this summer. And now, due to a grant from The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc., residents of those counties who have never attended a Glimmerglass production have the opportunity to do so for just $12. A grant from The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc. and the B. Victor & Ruby Rogers de Iorio Memorial Fund subsidizes the cost tickets for main stage performances, providing a low-cost way to enjoy Glimmerglass'world-renowned productions. Glimmerglass is an internationally recognized summer opera and musical theater festival that presents four productions in rotation every July and August. The 2011 season features new productions of Bizet's Carmen, Cherubini's Medea and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun. Rounding out the season is a double bill of new works, featuring the world premiere of Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner's A Blizzard On Marblehead Neck and the professional premiere of John Musto and Mark Campbell's Later the Same Evening. New Artistic & General Director Francesca Zambello encourages audience members to enjoy the scenic Glimmerglass campus and has added an array of special events to the season calendar. The Festival now includes an assortment of short musical programs, cast and crew Q&As and special lectures. "My goal is to have a variety of offerings, so you can come to a concert or reading in the afternoon, have a picnic, go to the opera and then stay afterward for a cabaret," Zambello said. The season runs July 2 through August 23, with many matinee and early afternoon offerings. Residents of Herkimer and Oneida counties who have never attended Glimmerglass, or who have not attended Glimmerglass since 2008, should call the Glimmerglass Box Office at (607) 547-2255 and Mention HOCF to receive the special offer. Visit www.glimmerglass.org for details.
