Ghoulish Gathering Festival at Glimmerglass State Park

October 2, 2010 - Ghoulish Gathering Festival begins Friday, October 22

COOPERSTOWN, NY - Hyde Hall, Inc. and the Friends of Glimmerglass State Park invite you for chills and thrills at their Ghoulish Gathering Festival beginning Friday, Oct.22 from 6pm-9pm and continues on Saturday, Oct.23 from Noon-9pm.

Enter Glimmerglass State Park and drive to the West Shelter Parking lot to take a hayride to the festival area at Hyde Hall.

Ghosts, ghouls, witches, and scarecrows will greet visitors while on a narrated Haunted Hayride along the Back Woods Trail of Eerie Acres. Luminaries and pumpkins light the path that is filled with family-oriented "fright" sites that will leave you with goose bumps
or giggles! Hyde Hall guides tour you through the Mansion at 6:30 or 7:30 on Friday and Saturday for spine tingling and hair raising tales. Find your way through the Mad Scientist Corn Maze Laboratory for ghoulish delight. The lab assistants will show you
all of his gruesome experiments as you manage your way through the maze either day or night. Have a conversation with the Talking Pumpkin at dusk, get warm by the bon fire as you listen to spooky and funny Halloween stories, or watch a Halloween movie.
Other attractions will include crafters and vendors, a Kids' Game Tent, face and pumpkin painting, and a prize drawing for a pair of tickets donated by the Glimmerglass Opera.

Make sure to have a delectable treat at the Witches' Kitchen!

Special Saturday activities begin at noon with a pumpkin carving demonstration. At 1pm there will be a "Creepy Crawly Creatures" nature presentation by Tom Hughes, Natural Resource Steward Biologist. The activity will be on firewood outreach and invasive species and kids can make a bug mask. A 3pm there will be a Monster Madness March costume parade. Prizes, donated by Safe Kids of Otsego County, will be awarded for the scariest, funniest, and best look-a-like costumes. Tom Hughes will give another "Creepy Crawly Creatures" nature presentation at 4pm on aquatic bugs and other inverts.

Dress for the weather! This Spook-tacular event has something for everyone!
