ESPN to air Hall special tonight

August 20, 2010 - Baseball Hall of Fame to be featured on ESPN

COOPERSTOWN, NY - Baseball fans can get an inside look at this past National Baseball Hall of Fame Weekend at 9 tonight, when Major League Productions presents MLB 2010: Road Trip to Cooperstown on ESPN.

"We knew about this but didn't know when it would be released," Craig Muder, the Hall's director of communications, said Wednesday night. "We just found out about it."

The show focuses on five people who were heavily involved in Hall of Fame Weekend _ Baseball Writers' Association of America inductee Andre Dawson; Ford C. Frick Award winner Jon Miller; Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith; Jason Long, the owner of Schneider's Bakery in Cooperstown; and Robert and Byah McGee, longtime Dawson fans from North Carolina who made their first trip to Cooperstown.

The one-hour special is narrated by actor Powers Boothe. Muder said Hall officials helped with the production.

"It's an inside look at Hall of Fame weekend that a lot of people don't get to see," said Muder, who added Hall officials hadn't seen a preview of the special. "It's a weekend where the eyes of baseball are on Cooperstown and it's a look behind the scenes. ... It's also a look at the community and how they support the Hall of Fame.

"It was a really good weekend this year," he continued. "We think the fans really enjoyed themselves in Cooperstown and we think the show will reflect that."
