COOPERSTOWN, NY - School's out for many children during April break week in the Northeast, but learning continues in Cooperstown as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum hosts Youth Baseball Week April 16-22 with educational programs for kids of all ages.

Families can spend a night in the Museum with the Extra Innings Overnight program, learn about Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Effa Manley and Jackie Robinson, tour the Louisville Slugger Museum and even explore the link between cricket and baseball during Spring Break at the Hall of Fame. Several special programs will take place during the week.

All events, except Extra Innings Overnight, are included with Museum admission. The schedule of events includes:

April 16           Plaque Gallery, 1^st Floor

Be one of the lucky few to spend a night with baseball's legends! Children ages 7-12 and their parents can sleep in the Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery among the plaques honoring Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson and the rest of baseball's greats. The evening includes all-access to the Museum's public areas after-hours, special hands-on programs throughout the Museum, and a late-night snack and a movie in the Bullpen Theater. Join the Haverford College cricket team, the only varsity cricket team in the United States, for hands-on demonstrations and presentations for all ages as the Hall of Fame celebrates its new exhibit Swinging Away: How Cricket and Baseball Connect.

11 a.m.             Jackie: Cross the Line!

April 18           Learning Center, 1^st Floor

                        Actor Gregory Gibson Kenney portrays Jackie Robinson in a performance that will engage the whole family. Kenney will provide visitors with insight into Robinson's life - from his youth in Pasadena, Calif., to breaking baseball's color barrier.

Ever wonder how a Louisville Slugger is made? Find out as we connect live with the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory for a virtual tour of the factory and a lesson in bat making.

11 a.m.            Roberto: Chat with an Angel

April 19           Learning Center, 1^st Floor

Actor Gregory Gibson Kenney portrays Pittsburgh Pirates star Roberto Clemente in this family-friendly performance. Kenney guides visitors on a journey from Clemente's childhood to his legendary career in Major League Baseball. This baseball angel tells a story of desire and determination that shows how he became one of society's most valuable players.

11 a.m.             Effa Manley and Her Scrapbook

April 21           Learning Center, 1^st Floor

Noted children's author Audrey Vernick, visits the Hall of Fame to present a special program for families on Effa Manley, the first woman inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Using Manley's personal scrapbook (a copy of which is in the Hall of Fame's archive) as an example, Vernick will help families create a memento of their visit to Cooperstown. The program will be followed by a book signing, with Vernick signing copies of her book, "She Loved Baseball: The Effa Manley Story."

In addition to these special programs, the Museum will feature daily activities and demonstrations for families all week long. Seating for all events is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on these and other programs, please visit www.baseballhall.org.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12).
