• James Fenimore Cooper, son of William Cooper, immortalized the region with his great American novels, The Leatherstocking Tales. • The village of Cooperstown was part of the Cooper Patent, which William Cooper purchased in 1785 from Colonel George Croghan. Deadline Fast Approaching for Quilt Show Entries at The Farmers’ MuseumJuly 25, 2011 - A New York State of Mind Quilt Contest Deadline is August 1 COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - The Farmers' Museum would like to remind all dedicated quilters that the deadline for its 2011 quilt contest titled A New York State of Mind is rapidly approaching. All entries must be postmarked by August 1, 2011. The entries will be exhibited at The Farmers' Museum on October 8 and 9 to be judged by a team of museum professionals and textile experts. ![]() |
