David Stradling to address NYSHA Meeting July 14th in CooperstownJune 30, 2011 - Author of “The Nature of New York : An Environmental History of the Empire State" in Cooperstown July 14 COOPERSTOWN, NY - David Stradling, Professor and Graduate Studies Director at the University of Cincinnati andauthor of "The Nature of New York: An Environmental History of the Empire State" will address members of the New York State Historical Association at the 108th Annual Meeting to be held on Thursday, July 14, at 4:00 p.m. in the Louis C. Jones Center of The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown, New York. The meeting is open to members of The New York State Historical Association. Professor Stradling's remarks titled "We Are Still In Eden: New York State and The Ideal Landscape," addresses how the New York landscape influenced American ideas about nature and the nation. The annual meeting will also reveal the winners of The Paul S. Kerr History Prize, The Dixon Ryan Fox Manuscript Prize, and The Henry Allen Moe Prize for Catalogs of Distinction in the Arts. A reception will follow the meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Louis C. Jones Center.
