Cabin Fever Film Series Continues at the Fenimore Art Museum

January 28, 2010 - Cabin Fever Film Series Continues at the Fenimore Art Museum

COOPERSTOWN, NY - The Cabin Fever Film Series continues this Friday with The Heiress at Fenimore Art Museum at 7:00 p.m.

The Heiress features a score by Aaron Copland, who also composed The Tender Land which Glimmerglass Opera will present this summer. Copland's score for The Heiress won an Academy Award for Original Music Score. The 1949 American film is not rated and runs about 115 minutes. The film features an aristocratic young woman, played by Olivia de Havilland, who lives under the scrutiny of her malevolent father. When a handsome but penniless suitor (Montgomery Clift) proposes, her father believes he could only be after her vast estate and threatens disinheritance. Can she be rich in love and money? Based on the stage version of Henry James's renowned novel Washington Square, this is a masterpiece of love, deception and betrayal.

The Cabin Fever Film Series is presented in collaboration with Fenimore Art Museum and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The film screenings are free and open to the public and run on Fridays in January and February at either the Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium or the National Baseball Hall of Fame Grandstand Theater. The series is meant to provide a fun evening out for community members during the cold winter months.

For the third year, Augur's Books is sponsoring a book raffle at each film: winners will receive a copy of a book related to the film being presented. Augur's Books is located at the corner of Pioneer and Main streets in Cooperstown.

Please note film ratings vary. Captions are available for the hearing impaired; audience members may request captions upon admission. To confirm the status of a screening in case of inclement weather, please call the following toll-free number: (888) 547-1450, ext. 461.
