Cooperstown was immortalized by James Fenimore Cooper in his Leatherstocking Tales. The area's passion for its rich past is chronicled on every Main Street in the county. The well-preserved architecture and historical museums tell the story of a community that cherishes - and is eager to share - its heritage. From hands-on history, fine arts and unique galleries to two national halls of fame - baseball and soccer - America's history comes alive in the rolling foothills of the northern Catskill Mountains.
