Fiddlers Three Benefit Concert

  • This exhibition, culled from the museum's permanent collection, features familiar and rarely seen photographs drawn from the Smith and Telfer Photographic Collection. The spring and fall exhibits will each feature a different selction of photography showcasing the breadth of the collection. Cooperstown photographers "Wash" Smith and "Putt" Telfer compiled an exceptional record of Cooperstown's people and places for almost a century. Through their lens Cooperstown is remembered as the quintessential American rural village.

  • Earl Cunningham's America examines the paintings of Earl Cunningham (1893-1977), one of the premier folk artists of the 20th century. The exhibition features 50 of the more than 400 works on board that Cunningham painted during his life. The exhibition traces the story of Cunningham's life and places his work in the context of the folk art revival that brought Edward Hicks, Grandma Moses, Horace Pippin and other folk masters to national attention.

Junior Livestock Show

    A true celebration of youth in agriculture. The second largest youth competition in the state and the only one of its kind sponsored by a museum in the United States. The continued collaboration with 4-H programs in a nine-county area of Central New York and the more than 930 volunteer hours ensures a smoothly-run educational event. The show attracts 285 young exhibitors registered to show 732 dairy cows, sheep, beef, swine and dairy goats, which they raised, trained, and groomed themselves.

 

National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

    Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This ceremony honors new inductees as well as recognizes Ford C. Frick Award winner and J.G. Taylor Award winner. Weather permitting, the ceremony takes place on the lawn of the Clark Sports Center. Professional interpretors are provided for the hearing impaired. A blanket or lawn chair is recommended for comfortable viewing. The ceremony usually lasts two hours. Refreshments are sold on-site and complimentary water is provided.

In this ingenious high-tech adventure, visitors use a global positioning system (GPS) to locate unique, interactive art forms such as a living willow maze and sculptures capturing wind to make sound and light to make shadow. Other installations invite geocachers to add their own poetry and handiwork. Sculptures are hidden at 11 secret, family-friendly destinations in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains near Cooperstown.

Sunday at Lake Front Park come early and watch the giant pumpkins get hollowed out and made seaworthy for the Pumpkin Regatta on Otsego Lake. Inflatable amusements for the children, craft show, food booths, pumpkin tasting and musical entertainment.

 

Thanksgiving at the Farmers' Museum
