The Iroquois Cultural Festival makes a very welcome return on Saturday, May 23. This year's event will explore and celebrate those elements of Iroquois culture that have crossed the divide and become assimilated into American culture. The festival coincides with the grand opening of the museum's new "Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater," located adjacent to the Otsego: A Meeting Place Iroquois sites on the Fenimore's lawn overlooking the lake. The Amphitheater will be alive with Native American music, dance, and storytelling performances from 11 AM – 4 PM. Expect to taste traditional Iroquois foods, watch lacrosse demonstrations, discover how a canoe is built, see artisans at work, buy unique Native American jewelry and crafts, and visit the Thaw Collection's special exhibition, 50 at 20, as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary! Included with museum admission.
