The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will salute the start of the 2017 summer season with this Cooperstown tradition, Hall of Fame Classic Weekend! The Hall of Fame Classic, presented by Ford Motor Company, is a seven-inning legends game featuring Hall of Famers and former major leaguers.
The Classic, now in its ninth year, featured a new twist last year when recently retired players representing the major league clubs joined the roster and participate in the Classic and weekend events. The new format, fueled by assistance from Major League Baseball brought an infusion of new faces into the Classic lineup, which will feature the pre-game Hitting Contest at noon. First pitch of the Classic is slated for 1:05 p.m.
Managers, Coaches and Roster
Hall of Famers Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith return as team captains and managers. They will be joined by Hall of Famers Wade Boggs and Goose Gossage, who will serve as coaches for the teams. The full rosters of Classic players will also be announced later this spring.
