Embi Esti is an intercontinental fusion band that incorparoates Afrobeat, North African adn Romani traditions into thei soulful music. Featuring the ethereal voice of Lady T, master guitarists Scott Collins and Michael Dimin (bass guitar) backed by the dynamic drummer Rob Morris.
Embe Esti is an intercontinental fusion band that incorporates Afrobeat, North African and Romani traditions into their soulful dance music. The group is based in the capital region and features classically trained musicians with impeccable technique and mastery of their instruments.
Lead Singer Lady T, Tanya Hannibal-Williams has a voice called "ethereal" by "Metroland" magazine. She's comfortable with diverse genres from reggae to R& B to neo-punk. As well as being a vocalist and songwriter, she is a classically trained flutist.
Scott Collins s a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and is known for playing a wide range of western and non-western music with tremendous passion and pyrotechnic velocity. He has composed music for both film, TV and video games and written books on guitar musicianship.
Mike Dimin "wrote the book" on the art of solo bass through his groundbreaking book "The Art of Solo Bass". He writes for Bass Player and other music industry magazines. He has performed from Istanbul to LA and in between and been a featured TEDx performer.
Rounding out the quartet is drummer Rob Morris. Rob strives to blend Latin jazz and reggae with New Orleans funk and soul. He studied with Grammy award recipient Larry Levene and has been playing the drums for over 25 years with bands of multiple genres for the last 10 years. He teaches at the Capital Area Music Project.
